Adventism in Great Britain
![]() |
Watford (nr London) Sanitarium was closed in the 1950's. Just one of the many institutions to be closed. |
Now is the TIME FOR A CHANGE, the time has come when the people of Great Britain need to get serious about winning souls for Christ.
Ellen White wrote in 1885 that the work in England was in its infancy. How true this is after 120 years the work still needs to progress so that every soul has had the opportunity of receiving eternal life. This is why Advent Books is planning to expand its out reach work and to take the message to millions of souls in this nation. We are excited about these plans and excited to see God's word being proclaimed. Please pray for this work but in order to get a better understanding of the decline in Adventism in the United Kingdom please read on.
Adventism in Great Britain has declined over the last 50 years with the closure of many institutions due to different reasons but now is the time for us to re-focus and make that one last push before our Saviour returns.
Just below is a selection of Adventist Organisations which have closed:
- Closure of Watford Hydrotherapy Centre
- Closure of Enton Hall Hydrotherapy Centre
- Sale of Health Food Factory
- Closure/Sale chain of Health food shops
- Sale of 2 Residential Homes
- Closure of Stanborough Printing Function
- Closure of Country Life Restaurant
- Sale of Privately Owned SDA Health Food Shop
Yes this saddens us but we bring it to your attention to illustrate the dire situation in this country. We want to reverse this decline and bring the Three Angels Message to the people.
Can you picture baptisms for our Lord, can you imagine millions of souls coming to know the Three Angels Message. This is the aim of Advent Books to take the message to the people of this country, to plant the seeds so a new beginning and a revival can take place.

And he who seeks to give light to others will himself be blessed. "There shall be showers of blessing." "He that watereth shall be watered also himself." Prov. 11:25. God could have reached His object in saving sinners without our aid; but in order for us to develop a character like Christ's, we must share in His work. In order to enter into His joy,--the joy of seeing souls redeemed by His sacrifice,--we must participate in His labors for their redemption.
